President Trump on Thursday mocked Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for wearing a mask in public.
“Did you ever see a man that likes a mask as much as him,” Trump told a chuckling crowd at a campaign rally in Latrobe, Pa. “… It gives him a feeling of security. If I were a psychiatrist, I’d say this guy’s got some big issues. Hang in there.”
Trump suggested to his supporters that they should wear a mask for events as Labor Day weekend approached and then proceeded to make a few more jokes about masks.
Trump has resisted wearing a mask for most of the pandemic to the dismay of public health officials and some politicians who say his actions undercut recommendations on slowing the spread of the coronavirus. Health experts say wearing face coverings is one of the most effective ways to prevent transmission of the virus, which has no cure or vaccine.
