CAGAYAN– After a senior citizen jumped to her death from a third floor building after learning she was a COVID-19 suspect, her tests came back negative, Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) said.

CVMC Chief Dr. Glenn Baggao identified the patient as Felisa Acosta.

“Nakakalungkot dahil hindi na nahintay ng suspect patient ang swab result at makakauwi na sana ito ngayong araw (May 14),” Baggao said.

(It’s very sad because the suspect patient did not wait for her swab result; she would have been sent home today.)

Acosta’s remains have been buried.

Baggao said he welcomes any investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, the hospital implemented stricter monitoring on other patients who are COVID-19 suspects waiting for the results of their swab tests.

Nurses assigned to the isolation building of the hospital were instructed to check on the patients every 30 minutes, particularly those who may be suffering depression because of their case.

At present, CVMC has 20 suspected cases under their care, with no probables and COVID-19 positives.
