Europe responds to Trump’s travel ban

European leaders have responded to President Donald Trump’s decision to impose restrictions on travel to the U.S. from 26 countries in Europe, saying that the coronavirus pandemic is a “global crisis” and not limited to “any continent.”

“It requires cooperation rather than unilateral action,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Charles Michel said in a statement Thursday.

“The European Union disapproves of the fact that the U.S. decision to impose a travel ban was taken unilaterally and without consultation,” they said, adding that the EU is taking strong action to limit the spread of the virus.
