Men represent the majority of coronavirus cases so far. Researchers think smoking could play a role.

  • recent study of nearly 140 coronavirus patients showed the virus was most likely to affect older men with preexisting illnesses.
  • Some researchers suspect that men have certain biological conditions that make them more likely to contract the virus, but others have suggested that women are just as susceptible.
  • Smoking, a practice more common among men than woman in China, could be a risk factor as well.
