A UK citizen airlifted from Wuhan was separated from the main group and taken to another NHS hospital after falling ill on the flight. Test results are due “in the coming days” from the individual. Ten other people continued to Arrowe Park hospital, where all UK evacuees from Wuhan are in quarantine, but housed separately.
It came as Chinese scientists revealed they had uncovered fresh evidence that the novel coronavirus, known as 2019-nCoV, had originated in bats. The virus’ genome appears very closely related to a bat form of coronavirus, which is the name for a group of organisms.
